I’ve seen “free” image/file storage sites like that before and used them until they went fee based and bloated. Leaving the “free” users with crippled access. DivShare is one of them. I wasted my time and bandwidth uploading tons of old family pictures there in a course of a year or two. Free is not always what it seems. What is the catch? How are you planning to make money with your service and how soon? I remember DivShare saying it will always be “free” too. Now, if a family member or friend wants to download a photo, he has to wait for a countdown timer. When you have dozens of photos, it makes it very exasperating. Unless you pay a fee.

CSlim, thank you for the first comment on Pict blog :)
We are planning to put some ads on Pict, but beleive me, these ads will be very simple and friendly. We will never put any annoying pop-ups or full page ads.
So, there is actually no catch at all ;)

Hi there!! Great service!! although, too good to be true!! ;)

Ofcourse i will try using this service, and let’s see how long it last. Just hope Ads do not get right into the pics, thus, making it hard for blog users to use the service. You already know that many Bloggers use this service to host their articles images. And we know bandwith cost, but just it’s something we have seen a lot and sometimes we feel bad to use great effort and invest some time just to find out that later you’ll need to do what u needed to do at first time: Pay :)

why is it free? what is your revenue model? how do i know if you will still be in business a year from now? what will happen to my images if you fail because it would be disastrous to our websites if our images disappear.

thank you. just looking for some assurance here. for eg. who are you? what’s in it for you?

roeg, our business model is quite simple.
Pict will have some ads in future, as I said before. We are about to launch a new version with albums and free registration and after that we will be able to offer more premium features to our users. You may see some light advertising quite soon. HOWEVER these images will not be as ones on imageshack or imagevenue. I promise.
